If there are any voicemail messages alerting your primary extension, then they will be shown as a badge on the Voicemail tab at the bottom of the screen.

Pressing the Voicemail tab will make a call into your mailbox on the telephone system to retrieve the messages. Depending on how the call is being made (This device, OfficeLink etc) you may or may not have to enter your mailbox and passcode manually.
